Mishe Skenderova LAc MSOM

My name is Martina Skenderova, but most people call me Mishe. I’m a licensed acupuncturist, holistic Eastern medicine practitioner, and grief and death doula with nearly 18 years of experience in healthcare. I am also a breast cancer survivor.

At Zelena Medicine, I work with patients across a range of experiences and life stages, often in collaboration with conventional medical care. My treatments are relational, grounded in clinical insight, and guided by a person’s unfolding process.

I've spent years working with patients in diverse clinical settings: from the hospital intensive care unit, wound care, post surgical rehabilitation, adult retirement home, and oncology infusion room. I find deep purpose in supporting biomedical care with complementary, holistic approaches. Time and again, I’ve witnessed the ways people face adversity, and how they heal and grow. I've come to understand that healing is more than a cure. It is the continuous work of love, acceptance, creativity, and belonging, rooted in our worthiness beyond health status or productivity.

My work is also informed by animist values that honor our connection to the Earth, our ancestors, and our emotional lives. I value collaboration across disciplines, evidence-informed practice, and heart-centered whole-person care.

Our Values

"So much of wellness culture approaches illness like a fight. But a constant going-to-war mentality creates more stress, hardening, and isolation at the very moments when support is needed most. I started this practice to offer something different, to listen to who you are, and make space for the hard parts: fear, grief, uncertainty, anger, the questions that are difficult to say out loud."

  • headache, cancer treatment side effects

“I got treated for thyroid cancer a while back. Even months after surgery, I was in constant neck and back pain. The headaches were horrible, and it was hard to do what I needed to do from day to day. I saw Mishe and it was such a relief to finally feel better. The headache was nearly gone in just a few treatments.”
